At AED.US, we value a positive company culture and work environment. That’s why our office is dog friendly! We would like to introduce you to the Coro Canine Crew and tell you what makes them so special.
What is your dogs name? Dora
How did you come up with the name, does it have any specific significance? We rescued Dora through LuckyPup Rescue. Her “foster parents” named her after Dora the Explorer because she is nosey and likes to explore. The first day we had her we realized nosey was an understatement! She inspected every room of our house. If we bring in groceries or anything new she has to check it out first. If we take her some place new she will check out each new room. The name fit her perfectly so we kept it. I also think she’s pretty aDORAable. ☺
Does she have a nickname and what is it? Boo Boo. I’m not sure how this happened, actually. I think one day we called her Dora Boo Boo and it just stuck. Now she answers to Boo, Boo Boo and Dora.
How old is she? 5
What breed?
When we rescued her, she was 5 months old and they thought she was a Border Collie mix and would be around 60lbs. Once she reached 90 lbs we decided to do a DNA test on her.
The results:
50%: Great Pyrenees
37.5%: American Staffordshire Terrier
12.5%: Mountain dog, Herding dog
What is her energy level? We always say, “sleepy Dora is the sweetest Dora!” She lives to go for walks and is always on alert so her energy level is pretty high. Thankfully she also likes to sleep and will sleep in as long as we do.
What is your dog’s favorite food? Chicken …basically any type of meat but she’s very familiar with the smell of Rotisserie Chicken from Costco. Ha!
What is her favorite game or toy? Anything that squeaks. She loves to play tug and squeak her toys
Other likes and dislikes.
Likes: going for walks, snuggling, protecting the house (she will let you know if a UPS truck is 5 miles away. We call her our “Dorabell”) She loves kids and is very patient with our nieces and nephews.
Dislikes: squirrels, smoke detector beeps, hiccups (they freak her out—she’ll get close to your face to make sure you’re okay), blow up Halloween or Christmas decorations (she will go on the other side of the street while on a walk to avoid getting close to them)
Funny things she does and/or weird quirks? The Great Pyrenees in her makes her “herd” us. She uses her nose to nudge us in the direction she wants us to go. If she gets frustrated she’ll nudge anything near her. She also snores…”Dora the Snorer” comes out when she’s really tired.
Does she know any tricks? She can sit, shake and lay down.
Independent or affectionate? She is the sweetest dog ever. She will let you snuggle with her, kiss on her (even when she’s sleeping.) We can take food/bones away and she doesn’t care. She LOVES to be with people (aka her sheep) and is good about sharing her affectionate with everyone, not just one particular person.
What is your favorite thing to do together? Going for walks and exploring a new area.
What is your favorite memory involving Dora? Going to the beach and watching her dig in the sand and play in the ocean. She had a blast!
