Education
Safeguarding students, staff, and visitors in schools with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is vital. Each year, about 7,000 children experience sudden cardiac arrest; having AEDs available could lower this number. Every educational institution, particularly those with sports programs, should equip itself with an AED. Some states have even mandated AEDs in schools and at athletic events, including Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, Nevada, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. Don't hesitate to help someone in cardiac arrest. While not all states require AEDs in schools, all 50 states offer legal protection under Good Samaritan laws to those who use an AED during an emergency.
