Precaution must always be taken when a patient receives anesthesia or any type of sedation. Over the years, dental boards have become increasingly aware of the need for AED in dentist offices as a wider range of sedation techniques come into play. Many states have laws about AEDs in dental offices including, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming. Because these states have established AEDs as a standard of care, the failure to have an AED in your office may create a significant liability risk.
